Raman Spectroscopy
Raman microscopy is a light scattering technique. When light from a high intensity laser interacts with a sample, most of the scattered light is the same wavelength as the laser source. This is called Rayleigh Scatter. But a small percentage of the light is scattered at different wavelengths. This is dependent on the chemical structure of the sample and is called Raman Scattering. The Raman Microscope is used to measure this Raman Scattering and plot it as a spectrum.
